Van Dijk set for Reds Euro bow

Preview

Liverpool's £75m record-signing Virgil van Dijk is set to make his Champions League debut for the Reds against Porto on Wednesday.

The former Southampton skipper is in line to start in defence and manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping Joe Gomez lines up alongside the Dutchman at right-back as he nears match fitness after a knee injury.

There will be no midfielder Emre Can for the clash at the Estadio do Dragao, as the Germany international is suspended, while goalkeeper Loris Karius will keep his place ahead of Simon Mignolet.

This encounter with Porto will be Liverpool’s first match in the knockout stages of the Champions League since 2009.
