Anfield could host Brazil-Croatia clash

Liverpool's Anfield could host a World Cup warm-up between Brazil and Croatia which would see Philippe Coutinho return to his old home.

Reports say Liverpool officials have held talks with representatives from Brazil and Croatia and are hopeful of staging a high-profile pre-World Cup game between the two countries in June.

It would mean Coutinho is set to return to the club he left for Barcelona in January, while current Reds players Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino are also set to run out at the club’s home for their respective countries.

Sunday June 3 is believed to be the date the match has been allocated, although Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge home is also thought to be under consideration.

The World Cup in Russia starts on June 14 and both Brazil and Croatia are keen to finalise their warm-up games as soon as possible.
